Twin-Screw Processes for Continuous Manufacturing of Melt Extrusion, and Wet, Melt, and Dry Granulation
The pharmaceutical industry has a growing interest in continuous techniques for producing drug-excipient particles, and twin-screw equipment can be applied to melt extrusion and granulation techniques. Defining the variables for twin-screw processes has a large impact on quality and properties of final product. Quality by Design can be applied to twin screw techniques, to define the optimal design space of a formulation. This webinar will describe in detail twin screw melt extrusion and dry, wet, and melt twin screw granulation. Two case studies showing the versatility of these techniques are presented.
Key Learnings:
- An introduction to twin screw extrusion and granulation as continuous manufacturing processes
- A review of key differences in applications, equipment, and excipient options based on technique
- Two case study designs and results using twin screw melt granulation and twin screw melt extrusion
